A woman in Orillia, who thought she was doing a good deed, was assaulted by an unknown man yesterday in what appears to be a random attack.

At approximately 3:15 p.m., the woman was driving northbound on Brodie Drive when she was flagged down by a man, standing near a parked car, who appeared to be in need of help. 

She stopped and got out of her car, and was assaulted by the unknown man who then fled the scene.

The man is described as:

  • Caucasian male
  • Mid to late 20's
  • Medium build
  • Wearing a black jacket, black toque, black work boots, blue jeans and black gloves

The attacker's vehicle is described as:

  • Newer Ford, mid-sized, four door sedan
  • Bright red in colour with silver coloured hub caps

The Orillia OPP Crime Unit, Orillia detachment Scenes of Crime Officers and the Central Region Forensic Identification Services were called in to help with the investigation.
