Various Ontario air cadet units are conducting glider training every weekend throughout September and October, and possibly early November – sometimes starting as early as 7:30 a.m. from the airfield at Jack Garland Airport in North Bay.

During this training, residents and workers in surrounding communities may experience some noise linked to these activities. The anticipated noise comes from tow planes and launch equipment, which is used to assist the gliders in taking off.

"The Air Cadet Training Program develops in youth the attributes of good citizenship and leadership, while providing a wide range of activities and courses related to leadership, physical fitness, citizenship, aircraft identification and glider familiarization, aeronautical mechanics, survival, navigation and much more," according to a release from the Regional Cadet Support Unit of the Canadian Armed Forces.
