Local hospital staff started off their day with a free sandwich and coffee as part of Giving Tuesday.

GivingTuesday is the world’s largest generosity movement, according to its website. "Whether it’s making someone smile, helping a stranger, or giving to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts, and everyone has something to give.

The donation of 200 breakfasts this morning was from the MacWhirter family, owners/operators of the McDonald’s restaurants in North Bay & Sturgeon Falls.

“We are fortunate to have access to exceptional healthcare for our family, loved ones, and our staff. It’s a way that we can give and demonstrate our gratitude to all of the staff at NBRHC that care for our community,” said Dan MacWhirter.

As part of the celebration, the hospital is having a telephone “Thank-A-Thon” where Foundation Trustees will call to thank donors for their generous support, all year round.

“We have such a generous community and our “Thank- A-Thon” is a meaningful opportunity for us to connect with and personally thank our donors for their support throughout the year," said Martin Hunka, Chair, NBRHC Foundation Board of Trustees. "It is because of their continuous generosity that our hospital can provide advanced levels of care, close to home; something we are so incredibly thankful for. There is no act of generosity that is too big or small for GivingTuesday!”
