On Jan. 31, Workplace Safety North (WSN) launched the WSN Feed Your Brain Lunch and Learn Series designed to help northern Ontario businesses and communities stay on top of the latest health and safety issues.
The first presentation, “Promoting Mental Health Through Positive Culture,” at WSN headquarters in North Bay was fully booked, with similar presentations scheduled for Feb. 20 in Sudbury, and March 27 in Kirkland Lake.
The free lunch and learn series helps northern communities, and human resources and health and safety staff stay on top of the latest health and safety issues; 2018 topics include mental health, stress, culture, and drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
“Psychological safety, mental health, and workplace culture have been identified by WSN clients as topics of interest and WSN wants to help northern Ontario communities and businesses stay ahead and make changes that create impact,” says Angele Poitras, WSN Community Engagement Specialist.
“The series is a great way to get a quick overview of hot topics in health and safety, while you network within your northern Ontario community,” says Poitras. “If one person walks away with a new idea for their workplace, finds the right resources, or meets a person that they connect with, then that’s a success.”
The series is presented from Jan. 31 to Nov. 27, 2018, in Kirkland Lake, North Bay, and Sudbury, on the following topics: promoting mental health through a positive culture, drugs and alcohol in the workplace, stress in your workplace, why mental health matters, and why your workplace culture is important.
