OPP INVESTIGATING COUNTERFEIT FIFTY DOLLAR BILLS
(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – The West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating occurrences involving counterfeit currency circulating in the Parry Sound area.
The currency involved is the $50 denomination. Several bills have been received in store deposits at a local bank. Serial numbers MA03086330A, MA03086315A and MA03086317A have been identified as counterfeit.
Local retailers and the general public are reminded to be alert and to carefully inspect all currency to verify that it is authentic. For further instruction regarding counterfeit prevention, the “bank note” section of www.bankofcanada.ca offers valuable information.
Here are some tips if you suspect that a bill is counterfeit: Touch the bill, tilt the bill, look through the bill and look at the appearance of each security feature carefully.
