OTTAWA, ON – August 17th 2015 - The Windows Collective are proud to announce their most ambitious project to date, a cross-Canada tour where they will present a series of engaging film installations in seven cities across four provinces. The public will see and interact with silent film loops projected on 16mm film, as well as the mechanisms used to house the loops. The Windows Collective’s contemporary and mobile urban art practice transforms the city itself into a canvas, and outdoor film projection is their graffiti. The members of the collective will also be giving workshops and masterclasses, offering the public a rare opportunity to learn unconventional approaches to working with traditional celluloid.

Dates: September 2nd - 26th 2015

Filmmakers: Roger D. Wilson • Pixie Cram • Bridget Redmond • Paul Gordon • Dave Johnson

Who are the Windows Collective?

The Windows Collective is made up of six Ottawa independent filmmakers. The collective was formed in 2008 with the mission of creating original, accessible & unconventional art events using Super 8mm, 16mm and 35mm film. The group creates travelling presentations of looping, silent films in unconventional locations like store windows, parking lots, heritage buildings and homes. Their installations transformbuildings, bridges and bodies of water into spaces for artistic expression and contemplation, as well as a place for people to come together as a spontaneous audience. The members of the collective are veteran teachers and instructors in topics as diverse as rayograph photography, cameraless animation (drawing directly onto film strips), and brewing your own organic film developer.
