The OPP stopped an e-bike for a traffic infraction on Rebecca Street in Temiskaming Shores shortly after 5 a.m. this morning only to discover that the driver was prohibited from driving Canada-wide.

Brent Burns, 49, of Temiskaming Shores, is charged with "Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code."

Burns was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 20 in Temiskaming Shores.

The vehicle was towed and impounded for 45 days.

Police are reminding motorists that if your licence is suspended because of a conviction that has resulted in a driving prohibition under the Criminal Code of Canada, you cannot legally operate an e-bike.
