OPP INVESTIGATE BREAK AND ENTER TO A MAGNETAWAN RESIDENCE

(MUNICIPALITY OF MAGNETAWAN, ON) – On Friday July 10, 2015 at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a break enter and theft to an East Poverty Bay Road residence.

Sometime between Wednesday July 1, 2015 and Friday July 10, 2015 unknown person(s) entered a building on the property and stole a 2006 two wheel drive Katerra all-terrain vehicle (ATV) camouflage in colour.  The vehicle was eventually recovered on East Poverty Bay Road.

Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this theft should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.

           BURK’S FALLS MAN ARRESTED IN R.I.D.E PROGRAM

(PERRY TWP, ON) – On Friday July 10, 2015 members of the North East Region Ontario Provincial Police Highway Safety Division set up a R.I.D.E. program (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) on Emsdale Road at Fern Glen Road, Perry Township.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., a pickup truck approached the R.I.D.E. program and subsequently the driver of the vehicle was arrested for exceeding 80 milligrams of alcohol.

The driver, Dale TRYON, 53 of Burk’s Falls Ontario was charged with Operate Motor Vehicle Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.  The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice onThursday, August 13, 2015 in Sundridge Ontario.

           OPP ARREST OAKVILLE MAN FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING

(ARMOUR TWP, ON) – On Saturday July 11, 2015 at approximately 1:30 a.m., the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was patrolling Highway 11, Armour Township.  OPP was travelling south bound on Highway 11 when they stopped a vehicle near Katrine exit. 

Police spoke to the driver of the vehicle and subsequently arrested him for impaired operation.  The driver, David SZALAY, 49 of Oakville, Ontario was charged with Drive Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired, contrary to section 253(1)(a) and Operate Motor Vehicle Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code. 

The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, July 23, 2015 in Sundridge Ontario.

                  R.I.D.E. PROGRAM LEADS TO DRUG CHARGES

(PERRY TWP, ON) – On Sunday July 11, 2015 the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. program (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) at the intersection of Highway 592 and Old Novar Road.

At approximately 10:50 p.m., a vehicle approached the R.I.D.E. program and after talking to the driver, officers arrested him for possession of a controlled substance, marihuana.  Further police investigation resulted in the seizure of approximately 716 grams of marihuana.

The driver, David PATRICK, 33 of Kearney Ontario was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, marihuana over 30 grams, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and substances Act.  
The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, August 14, 2015 in Sundridge Ontario.

                   POLICE INVESTIGATE THEFT FROM VEHICLE

(LOUNT TWP, ON) – On Tuesday July 7, 2015, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a theft from a vehicle that was parked on Pike Road. 

Sometime between Monday July 6, 2015 at 12:00 a.m. and Tuesday July 7, 2015 at 12:00 p.m., unknown person(s) broke the window of the car and stole sporting goods, tools, luggage and a camera.  The value of the damage and stolen items is approximately $2500.
