DRUG CHARGES AT TRAFFIC STOP

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On February 19, 2015, the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was patrolling Highway 69 in Carling Township. At approximately 10:09 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a southbound black car that was observed travelling at a high rate of speed. Police investigation and a search of the vehicle led to the seizure of over 20 grams of marihuana.

The driver, Annas ALSOMILI, 21 years of age from Toronto was arrested and charged with:

1.    Possession of a Schedule II Substance – under 30 grams as per the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA).

2.    Speeding contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

3.    Drive motor vehicle – no licence contrary to the HTA.

The passenger, Saleh HASSAN, 22 years of age from Toronto was arrested and charged with:

Possession of a Schedule II Substance – under 30 grams as per the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA).
Both accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Parry Sound on March 19, 2015 to answer to their charges.
