Downtown Gallery Hop of the year a success.

Photographer Maxx Giffen is one of the 150+ artists who had work on display at the November Hop. Exhibiting in 150 West’s "Little Pieces: Fine Art Show and Sale," the Hop provided Giffen with his first opportunity to show work in a professional art gallery.

Organizers and artists are calling the last Downtown Gallery Hop of the year a success, estimating 200 people attended the free, self-guided art tour late last month.

Warmer than usual weather saw couples and groups walking between the fourteen venues in downtown North Bay. They sampled food and drink, chatted with local artists, witnessed unique demonstrations, and ended the evening at a cross-discipline arts gathering hosted by North Bay’s Coordinating Body of Arts and Culture.

“I have previously been involved in the North Bay theatre community, but I regrettably have been ignorant of the other artistic mediums in the North Bay art community,” said Giffen. In reference to his experience visiting the downtown galleries, Giffen added, “I was overwhelmed and overjoyed by the vastness and limitless talent of the visual arts community in North Bay.”

The Downtown Gallery Hop is a community building event that brings the art spaces of Downtown North Bay together for special nights of art celebration. Local galleries, shops, and artist studios stay open late to host special events, receptions and promotions, all of which are open to the general public.

The Gallery Hop is a free event that brings culture and excitement to our community! The Downtown Gallery Hop will resume next spring, with 2016 dates set for March 18, May 20, July 15, September 16, and November 18.
