Do you know the kind of person who inspires, encourages and creates social change through their work?  They could be working as a social services professional or volunteer – either way they’re amazing!

The District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board would like to know them too. The DNSSAB is looking for nominees for the first annual Community Enrichment Awards.

“There are many people out in our District who inspire us by the great things they do to help others,” says DNSSAB CAO, Joe Bradbury.  “We’d like to recognize them, so we encourage co-workers and co-volunteers to nominate them.”

Nominees will be accepted in the categories of Community Contribution, Leadership, and, in some cases, Lifetime Achievement. Self‐nominations will not be accepted.

Nomination forms can be found on the DNSSAB website.

The deadline for submissions is this Friday, January 8th, 2016.  The winner will be presented with a plaque of recognition on February 16th.

The District of Nipissing is the sum of all its parts, and that includes individuals who inspire, encourage and create social change through their work.

The District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board recognizes this power to make a difference through its annual Community Awards that recognize members of the Nipissing District who show excellence in their efforts in the social services sector, either as a professional or volunteer.

Every year, individuals and community agencies will be asked to nominate someone in the categories of Community Contribution, Leadership, and, in some cases, Lifetime Achievement. Self‐nominations will not be accepted. Nomination forms will be available on the DNSSAB website and at all office locations. The DNSSAB wishes to recognize community heroes from all municipalities within the District. Notification of the award process will be shared with all District municipalities annually to encourage widespread participation.

Nominations are judged by an independent panel of judges including DNSSAB Board members, collectively representing the Nipissing District. Panel members will select one individual from each category. Nominations will be submitted by the second Friday of January each year and awards will be announced and handed out at the February Board meeting.

Recipients may receive either award only once, and not in the same year.

Winners will be notified in writing at least 14 days prior to the Board meeting in February where the awards will be officially presented.

NOMINATION PROCESS

Nominations must include the following to qualify:

  • Completed nomination form

  • 300 – 500 word summary of the nominee's achievements in the category. This should highlight specific initiatives that support the nominee's impact on the Nipissing District community, such as how their work has improved the quality of life for those living in the community.

  • Answers to the following questions can be included in the summary:

1. How will this individual be remembered by future generations for their contributions?

2. What qualifies this individual as someone who has had a positive impact on the community of the Nipissing District through his or her work? Lifetime achievement awards will be considered for nominees who have contributed 20+ years to their community.

  • Collect a minimum of two letters of support. These letters can come from colleagues, recipients of their efforts, political officials and so on. The nominator is not permitted to provide a letter of support.
