The City of North Bay and Mayor Al McDonald are proclaiming the month of October as Disability Employment Awareness Month.

McDonald will be delivering opening remarks and presenting a proclamation for Disability Employment Awareness Month on October 19 at a Business week event in North Bay.

The proclamation, dated October 1st, 2016, stated that “persons with disabilities are valued members of our city and deserve the opportunity to live and work in their community where they are respected and rewarded for their efforts, skills and accomplishments.”

It was also noted that people who have a disability contribute to North Bay’s workforce and are critical to the city’s efforts to build a strong economy.

The support of “non-profit agencies, service providers, consumer organizations, educational establishments, consumers and their families” in promoting employment opportunities for people who have a disability living in North Bay was also noted.

The proclamation went on to encourage all city residents to “celebrate the contributions of individuals with disabilities to our workplaces and communities, and to promote the employment of individuals with disabilities to create a better, more inclusive North Bay.”
