Deadline nears for Kiwanis Music Festival

“Last year saw 1200 participants entered in over 400 entries and I suspect we are on pace for another strong two-week program April 18-29 listening to the performances in all of our disciplines including Strings, Band, Instruments, Piano, Voice, Choir and Guitar,” says Kiwanis Festival Chair Ralph Celentano.

The Friday February 19 registration deadline for soloists, duets, trios, quartets and small ensemble entries is quickly approaching for regular participants to sign up in the annual Kiwanis Music Festival.  Local area registered music teachers and school music teachers familiar with the Kiwanis 50 year old program have been submitting their student entries at www.kiwanisnipissing.com and we are pleased to report we will again have regional participation.

“Our Festival Coordinator Jessica Brooks-Wadley, a professional Music Teacher herself, tells me we have seen a good number of entries to date, including participants from as far as Sudbury and Huntsville, already registered for this year’s event.”

Canada’s Got Talent or The Voice - it is never too late to start’

Our adjudicators are travelling here from Toronto, Thornhill and Sudbury.  We host competitive and non-competitive classes so if any child or adult has a notion to get involved, we deliver an all-inclusive format with our program so select and register in the category you are interested in as this could be your opportunity.

Many adults recall their first Kiwanis performance as a young performer but should you be inspired by any of the music reality television programs, such as ‘The Voice’, a program like ours, can serve as a re-launch to follow your passion and receive constructive feedback in a one–on-one setting.  “If you are a member of a community choir, theatre production or band and wish to perform by yourself in front of a qualified music professional, you are invited to register as everyone has a skill to nurture and develop.  This community program promotes life skills of self-development and self-esteem far beyond the music” states Celentano.
