Day Two of back to school traffic enforcement

Motorists are reminded that they must reduce their speed to 40 when the amber lights are flashing in this area.

Results from Day Two of the North Bay Police Service’s Back to School Traffic Enforcement Campaign for Wednesday September 7th, 2016 are in:

  • Two speeding tickets were issued in the Community Safety Zone on Jane Street at Harvey Street where the speed limit is 40 km per hour, every day of the year, at all hours of the day. The highest registered speed was 65 km per hour.
  • Three speeding tickets were issued in the Community Safety Zone on O’Brien Street, while the amber lights were flashing to indicate that speed is reduced to 40 km/hr. The highest registered speed was 59 km/hr. Motorists are reminded that they must reduce their speed to 40 when the amber lights are flashing in this area. Amber lights flash from Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., from September 1st to June 30th. When the amber lights are NOT flashing, the speed limit returns to 50 km per hour.
  • Four 72-hour notices were issued for failing to show documentation. Drivers have 72 hours to come to North Bay Police Service headquarters to show proof of insurance or vehicle permit.
  • Police did not observe any drivers who failed to stop for a school bus or who failed to wait for pedestrians and school crossing guards to completely cross the road at school crossings.
