Cops join students in neighbourhood cleanup

North Bay Police Service joins forces with Nipissing University students in a neighbourhood clean-up, clothing donation and food drive

The North Bay Police Service’s Environment Committee and Nipissing University student volunteers will be out tomorow from 3–4:30 p.m. to pick up litter and collect food and clothing donations on behalf of Nipissing University’s Biidaaban Community Service-Learning and Wiidooktaadwin Indigenous Mentorship Initiatives programs.

This initiative is part of the volunteer training the students receive.

Locations

The participants will be concentrating their efforts in student housing areas on:

  • McNamara Street;
  • Sherryl Cresent;
  • Cypress Court;
  • Dover Court;
  • McGibbon Street; and
  • Southview Cresent;

Nipissing University students, who will be volunteering their time towards this initiative, have distributed flyers in the area to encourage residents to contribute gently-used clothing and food.

Members of the public who want to help in the clean-up are asked to meet outside the Lucky 13 store at 555 McKeown Avenue at 3:15 p.m.
