Between June 29th and July 6th, the West Nipissing Police Service logged 238 calls for service. Among those were 2 Break and Enter, 3 Domestic Disputes, 4 Fraud, 3 Mischief, 10 Motor vehicle collisions, and 3 Thefts.
On July 2nd a Clark Street resident contacted the police to report a theft. The victim informed police that the shed in her backyard had been entered and many of her hand and garden tools had been stolen. No damage was caused to the shed during the theft.
On July 3rd police responded to a call for service at a Parker Street residence. Police learned that a man had been assaulted by his spouse. Officers discovered that the male and female had a disagreement and that the woman punched her husband in the facial area. The female was later arrested and now faces a charge of assault.
Police continue to receive fraud/scam complaints from West Nipissing residents. The majority of the complaints relate to a caller purporting to work for the Canada Revenue Agency and the complainant owing large sums of money. The caller insists that the complainant return the call or that legal action will commence against the complainant. This is a scam, and West Nipissing residents are urged not to return these calls, and more importantly to not provide personal information about themselves or their finances.
A Nipissing Street resident contacted the police to report that one of the tires on her vehicle had been slashed. While there were no witnesses to the incident the owner did provide the police with the name of a suspect. This investigation is ongoing.
On July 4th a local Sturgeon Falls business reported a theft of power tools and drills. Police were advised that a Dewalt Impact driver and drill bits had been taken sometime on Sunday July 3rd.
On July 5th a Quesnel Road resident contacted the police to report that a boat motor had been stolen. The officer was advised that all the cables were cut and the motor removed from the vessel. The motor is described as a 15 HP Mercury four stroke, black in color.
