North Bay, ON – Could the next world-famous sculptor or painter – a pint-sized Michelangelo or Picasso – be from North Bay? The YMCA of North Bay aims to find out at this Saturday’s first-ever Children’s Art Auction.

Taking place from 11 am to 1 pm at the YMCA of North Bay, the event will feature a silent auction of original artwork created by young, up-and-coming community artists: the very talented children who attend YMCA Child Care and School Age programs throughout North Bay and area as well as Nipissing's Early Years Centre.

The art up for auction comes from a wide array of children: throughout the Nipissing and Parry Sound Districts, the YMCA of North Bay serves over 1200 children ranging in age from infancy to twelve years old, many of whom are subsidized.

“This event is a perfect showcase for the creativity and energy that children in our programs display every day,” said event organizer Shawna Latimer. “It’s also a chance to show the impact that the Strong Kids Campaign has right here in the community.”

Proceeds from the auction benefit the 2016 YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, an annual fundraising campaign focused on raising much needed resources to support proven YMCA programs that give kids the opportunities they need to reach their full potential: to live healthier, happier lives today, and grow into productive adults in the future.
