 POLICE INVESTIGATE THEFT OF GENERATOR

(PERRY TWP, ON) The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the theft of a generator that was stolen from a shed on Sherwood Drive, Perry Township.

The theft occurred sometime between Friday January 9, 2015 at 1:00 p.m., and Tuesday January 13, 2015 at 1:30 p.m.  The generator is described as a yellow Champion valued at approximately $750. 

Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this theft should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.”

                     OPP INVESTIGATE SNOW MOBILE COLLISION

(ARMOUR TWP, ON) On Sunday January 18, 2015 at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police responded to a single motor vehicle collision involving a motorized snow vehicle.

The driver was operating a white Polaris snowmobile on Snowshoe Lane, Armour Township when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.  The driver was taken to hospital by Emergency Medical Services with serious but non-life threatening injuries.  Alcohol was a factor and police are continuing to investigate the collision.

            DRIVER INVOLVED IN COLLISION IS ARRESTED FOR 
                     HAVING OVER LEGAL LIMIT OF ALCOHOL

(KEARNEY, ON) On Saturday January 17, 2015 at approximately 4:45 p.m., the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Kearney First Response was dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Echo Ridge Road, in the Town of Kearney.

The driver of the vehicle, Ryan ELLIS, 24 of Kearney lost control of his vehicle, a Ford Focus and struck a tree.  Police attended the location and subsequently arrested and charged the driver with care and control of a motor vehicle over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood, contrary to the Criminal Code. 

The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday February 26, 2015 in Sundridge Ontario.

OPP INVESTIGATE NUMEROUS COLLISIONS FROM JANUARY 12-19 2015

(ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS, ON) The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 10 collisions from January 12, 2015 – January 19, 2015.  The collisions occurred on highway 11 and 124 and involved icy road conditions and collisions with wildlife. 

OPP would like to remind motorists to adjust their speed according to road conditions.  Road conditions can change quickly and drivers must be prepared for weather and road changes constantly.  Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle, extra blankets, non-perishable foods, a charged cell phone and always let someone know where you are going and your expected time of arrival.   For information of road conditions motorists can call 511 and remember to always watch for wildlife on the highways.
