Ontario is providing Burk’s Falls with over $1 million to improve road safety and create or sustain jobs through the Connecting Links program.

This project includes rehabilitation of Armstrong Bridge on the village’s Highway 520 connecting link.

Through the Connecting Links program, Ontario is helping municipalities repair their roadways and bridges that connect communities to provincial highways and border crossings. The province is funding up to 90 per cent of total eligible project costs, up to a maximum of $3 million per project, for the design, construction, renewal, rehabilitation and replacement of connecting link infrastructure.

“The Village welcomes this news. The investment will ensure the rehabilitation of the Ontario Street Bridge moves forward and continues to act as a critical link for Burk’s Falls and the surrounding municipalities.  We thank the province, and especially Minister Del Duca, for listening to our concerns and re-introducing the connecting links and providing the Village with the ability to provide safe and renewed infrastructure.  We have worked hard to create this partnership and we would be remiss to not thank former Councillor Bruce Campbell for his time and effort as well," said Cathy Still, Reeve of Burk’s Falls
