On Thursday, October 12 the YMCA, the Rotary Club of North Bay, and radio personalities Mike Monaghan and Kevin Oschefski held their Big Camp Adventure Day, which culminated at that evening’s Battalion game.

Over $71,000 was raised to ensure all local kids get the opportunity to enjoy amazing camp experiences. Donors and sponsors, included Northern Ontario Film Studios who matched all donations on that day up to $25,000.

Funds raised help cover the cost of registration and purchase supplies like running shoes and sleeping bags and re-investing into camp equipment and upgrades.

"As a charity, the YMCA is here for families when they most need us – including being able to send their kids to summer camp – and it’s so heartwarming to see this incredible outpouring of support showing our community feels the same way,” stated Helen Francis, CEO for the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario.

“The Rotary Club of North Bay has partnered with the YMCA for many years at Camp Tillicum and we are proud to strengthen this partnership by helping raise funds for the Fill the Bus campaign," added Steven Wright, President of the Rotary Club.

Donations are still being accepted.  Camp registrations begin in the new year, and the YMCA will continue to accept donations to help get kids on the bus to camp.  To make a donation or find out more about Fill the Bus, please visit us online www.fillthebus.ca.
