Area artists support ART JAM, fostering growth and community connections

It's a wide array of site-specific art projects, sound stages with various styles of musical performances, podcasting, new media and art projects

The 2017 edition of the ART JAM is happening this Saturday night, December 2nd.

This community event has expanded again and will feature over 60 local and regional artists performing, exhibiting and selling their artworks. The old Tweedsmuir Public School will serve as a Saturday evening hub to enable a wide array of site-specific art projects, sound stages with various styles of musical performances, podcasting, new media and art projects.

On Saturday from 6 p.m. to midnight, come see live entertainment featuring: 

  • The Rob Joanisse, Scott Aultman & Mike Brewes Trio,
  • HyperBoreal with Dermot Wilson and Jason Brock,
  • sound art by Christine Charette and Darren Copeland,
  • Ox-Head, singer songwriter Benjamin Hermann,
  • Ask A Punk Show featuring Jinn/Romancer/Pfloog,
  • Kings Of Our Kin and Yamantaka // Sonic Titan (Montreal).
  • Local DJ’s will be creating the Radio Konton Experience,
  • Shawn Moreton will be creating a participatory photo project,
  • Upside Down Press will be producing original merchandise and
  • Julia Burke performs spoken word.

The visual arts expo and sale will feature artworks by various regional creators: Geoff Mayne, Kayla Knight, Steven Kudla, Wolf Belanger, Christine Charette, Jurgen Mohr, Bruce Cull, Rusell Noganosh, Brenda Scott, Keith Campbell, Eric Euler, Chris Johnson, Sarah Carlin-Ball, Dermot J Wilson, Marty Simard, Alex Mæve Campbell, Lori Grace Nickerson, Jana Brogan, Jean Allen, Melinda Shank-Miles, Paul H. P. Smylie, Thomas Sandziuk, Stephanie Van Doleweerd, Abby Aultman, Natasha Fenton, Shawn Moreton, Reno Couchie, Mike Couchie, Helen Truax, Arlie Hoffman, Laura Lea Rivet, Sylvia Antinozzi, Holly Macie, Allan Hirsh, Jaimie Board, Kirk Titmuss, Melanie Alkins, Emily Johnson, Brian Bertrand, The Grumpy Toad, Groove Dasi, Zel Art and more…

WHO: Presented by ART JAM and the Nipissing Region Curatorial Collective (NRCC).

WHY: The ART JAM is a benefit and fundraiser to support and promote live music, performance art and visual artists in the Nipissing Region.

WHERE: 176 LAKESHORE DRIVE, NORTH BAY

WHEN: Saturday, December 2, 2017 – Doors Open at 6PM

TICKETS: Tickets are sold at www.tangr.com/event/artjamlove or at door. The cost is $20 per ticket, if you’re a student it’s $15 (bring your student card to get a $5 rebate at the door)!

VISUALS: Many photo and video opportunities are available. See attached poster for details. Interviews can be scheduled with organizers and participating artists as requested.

All proceeds will go to the Nipissing Region Curatorial Collective (NRCC) and ART JAM to pay the collaborating artists and organize more local events in 2018.
