Members of 22 Wing Canadian Forces Base North Bay gathered on May 17th to recognize International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia.

May 17, 2023, on International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, 22 Wing/Canadian Forces Base North Bay acknowledged past prejudices against the Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and additional sexually and gender diverse (2SLGBTQI+) community.

As part of raising awareness, Canadian Armed Forces members, along with their United States Air Force counterparts and civilian Defence Team partners, raised the transgender flag at the wing flagpole.

Later in the day, they hosted a viewing of “The Fruit Machine” - a documentary where survivors of a decades-long homosexual witch-hunt recount their personal stories of dedication and betrayal at the hands of the Canadian government.
