On Friday, June 17th, 2022, the Most Reverend Thomas Dowd, Bishop of the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie, presided over a mass at the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption along with catholic clergy from North Bay, attended by members of the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption The Catholic Women’s League of Canada (CWL), along with Johanne Brousseau, North Bay City Councillor.

2022 marks the 102nd year that the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption Council of The Catholic Women's League of Canada. With an abundance of caution due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the council delayed its 100th anniversary celebration for two years so that all could gather in-person to mark this historic event.

“It is an exciting time for the members of the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption CWL as we finally get to celebrate our 100th anniversary as a council, and we get to do it in person. I am honoured and blessed to be surrounded by life-long friends and women I respect who have worked tirelessly to create this celebration. The ladies have shown their strength and commitment to God and country," said Lisa Henry, Sault Ste. Marie Diocesan President, member of the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption of The Catholic Women’s League of Canada, and Convener of the 100th anniversary celebrations.

Through faith, service and social justice, members of The Catholic Women’s League of Canada are called to grow in faith, to support their community in service and witness the love of God through ministries of social justice.

“I am truly humbled to be the president of the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption CWL as we celebrate our 100th anniversary in our 102nd year! Our parish is heavily involved in the community supporting numerous charities through fundraisers and volunteering. Our faith has brought us together, and it is our service to our community and our sense of social justice that shows our commitment to our parish and to North Bay. I never walk alone knowing I am a member of the CWL. My sisters in the league are with me always, ” said Annette Dutrisac, President of the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption of The Catholic Women’s League of Canada
