WSIB turns 50

MPP Steven Mahoney, Chair of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), was in North Bay Thursday to talk about the new hard-hitting safety campaign launched by the WSIB in the fall.

Mahoney met with local employers at an event with sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce to talk about the campaign and everyone’s role to reduce workplace accidents and bring the number down to zero percent.

The campaign covers all media and some people may find the message uncomfortable, but that is the aim of the project. Mahoney says it is important to remind employers and employees in Ontario that workplace injuries and fatalities are not accidents. Mahoney says injuries and fatalities are unacceptable, intolerable, and 100-percent preventable.
