'Workforce Week' will help maximize your job search

Over 40 employers from a variety of industries will be showcased downtown North Bay at the Grande Event Centre

The Labour Market Group (LMG) is getting ready to present "Workforce Week 2024" from April 22-26 in Nipissing and Parry Sound.

"This week-long series of events will highlight and showcase the variety of workforce development and employment opportunities available throughout the region," says a release.

A highlight will be the BayWorks Job Fair.

Monday, April 22:  We will kick off the week highlighting our readysethired.ca job portal.  Visit the site to learn about current and active job vacancies in Nipissing and Parry Sound districts.  Also, as part of their April workshop series, YES Employment will be hosting a session entitled Newcomer Resumes and Job Search.  Visit yesnorthbay.com for more details. 

Tuesday, April 23: GET JOB READY:  A day for job seekers looking to learn how to maximize their job search and ultimately secure employment. 

"This day will showcase our region’s service providers and provide insight and advice on those looking to enter into their next employment phase," says Executive Director Stacie Fiddler.

"An employer panel will be featured to job seekers looking for tips and information on how to successfully navigate interviews.  At their location in Burks Falls, Agilec will also be hosting a Resume Day where those interested can pop by and get professional advice from employment coaches."

Wednesday, April 24: CONNECT:  This unique event offers professional development opportunities for community agencies to maximize collaborative approaches and stay motivated in client service. 

"Registered Social Worker, Amanda Rocheleau will be our featured Keynote and will share her inspiring story, research and teachings on compassion fatigue. Ever wondered about what a Career in Real Estate would be like?  Agilec will be hosting a real estate professional at its location in Burks Falls to answer questions and provide insights into this amazing career.  YES Employment Services will be offering a WHMIS certification course that requires registration.  Fees will apply."

Thursday April 25: BayWorks North Bay’s signature Job Fair 

Over 40 employers from a variety of industries will be showcased downtown North Bay at the Grande Event Centre.  A virtual component will also be offered simultaneously.  The YMCA Employment Resource Centre in Parry Sound will be opening its doors for an open house.  The Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program coordinators from the 4 district school boards will be hosting an Information Night that will answer all questions surrounding apprenticeship and pathways to the Trades.   

Friday April 26: Closing  

Visit other Employment Ontario agencies including Employment Options in Sturgeon Falls and Employment North in Sundridge to find out more about the programs and services they offer for both employers and job seekers.
