Wood wielding man charged with assault with a weapon

Police say a complainant contacted police to report that a male neighbour, suspected to be impaired, was outside an apartment building on Clarence Street swinging a piece of wood.

A 19-year-old North Bay man is charged with assault relating to an incident that occurred around 5 p.m. on Sunday.  

Police say a complainant contacted police to report that a male neighbour, suspected to be impaired, was outside an apartment building on Clarence Street swinging a piece of wood. 

The neighbour was able to take the piece of wood away from the suspect, who left the scene on foot. Nobody was injured.

Following an investigation, North Bay Police located and arrested the man on Algonquin Street.

Tristan Edmund Stephen, age 19, of North Bay was charged with:

  • public intoxication under the Liquor Licence Act; and
  • One count of assault with a weapon under the Criminal Code.

The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 9th, 2016.
