IODE members in North Bay dressed themselves to the nines today, with hats and gloves and skirts.

The national chapter of IODE is celebrating 105 years of chapter celebrated with a traditional type of meeting Friday.

IODE is a Canadian women’s charitable organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children, youth and those in need, through educational, social service and citizenship programs.

One of the recent projects that Dr. Herbert A. Bruce Chapter took on was the sale of the popular yellow “LIVESTRONG” and “Sharing the Promise” pink breast cancer wristbands.

The chapter sold 1,200 wristbands and raised over $1800.00 for the local Canadian Cancer Society office.

Barb Spencer, a representative from the office, said the money will be used to purchase pamphlets and information for cancer patients.
