A woman walking innocently to work was robbed and assaulted in Sturgeon Falls last Monday.

West Nipissing Police got a complaint from a woman complaining she had been assaulted.

Police say that the young woman was walking along Clark Street on her way to work, when a man whom she knows, grabbed her by the arm.

The man questioned the woman, became aggressive, and punched her in the face, knocking her to the ground.

The woman dropped her glasses, cell phone, lighter and ball cap.

The robber then grabbed the phone and when the woman tried to get it back she was again struck and knocked to the ground.

The attacker then ran away with the victim’s property.

Police found and arrested the man a short time later.

An 18-year-old Sturgeon Falls man now faces charges of robbery, resisting arrest and failing to comply with recognizance.
