W.J. Fricker school coming down

The Near North Board estimates the rebuild will cost $17,580,000.

Construction crews are tearing down the old W.J. Fricker school this week. 

The school closed its doors at the end of the 2019-20 school year. 

The Near North Board estimates the rebuild will cost $17,580,000.

The work is being done by Venasse Building Group Inc. from North Bay.

“The new Fricker school which will consolidate three schools and enhance elementary education in this section of North Bay," Jay Aspin, Board Chair, stated in a release in late 2021.   

"This school will ensure that more students in the city will experience the modern features of a contemporary elementary school.  As this has been a key priority of our board, our Fricker Build Committee has worked effectively with the administration to make it happen.”

Venasse Building Group Inc.told BayToday they expect construction on the new school to be completed by June 2023.
