Winter storm watch for
North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa issued

Snow..At times heavy..Beginning near noon Friday.

This is an alert to the potential development of dangerous winter weather conditions in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

A Major winter storm developing over the southern U.S. will spread a broad area of precipitation into the Nickel Belt area on Friday. With temperatures in the above regions currently falling in the wake of a cold front this precipitation will arrive as snow.

The snow is expected to begin around midday Friday and continue into the evening hours before tapering off. Current indications are that 15 to 20 centimetres of snowfall are possible. Additionally strong and gusty winds in the afternoon and evening will result in some blowing and drifting snow.

Environment Canada continues to monitor this developing situation.
