Winter conditions, pedestrian struck

The pedestrian accident took place just before 9 a.m. and involved a small black SUV.

North Bay police tell BayToday that a pedestrian is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being struck this morning at the intersection of Airport and O'Brien.

It's one of three traffic accidents reported to police before 11 a.m. Sunday. A winter storm has made driving treacherous. Roads are snow covered and snow-packed.

The pedestrian accident took place just before 9 a.m. and involved a small black SUV, seen in the photos somewhat sideways just past the intersection heading west.

North Bay Police and Fire Departments were on scene, as well as an ambulance.

Police closed Airport Road westbound - coming down Airport at O'Brien Street for a period of time, but traffic flow has now resumed.

Meanwhile, OPP say Highway 11 was closed at 10 a.m. just south of Matheson after a collision involving Tractor Trailer that is blocking the highway.

There is a detour but police say it is for local traffic only with no heavy trucks allowed.

The estimated duration of  the closure is unknown.
