Wine gala brings touch of France to North Bay

Organizers of A Night on the French Riviera, the Capitol Centre’s seventh annual wine gala and fundraiser, will know by noon Monday how much money the event brought in.
Organizers of A Night on the French Riviera, the Capitol Centre’s seventh annual wine gala and fundraiser, will know by noon Monday how much money the event brought in.

The goal was set at around $35,000, said Dee Adrian, the centre’s general manager, and the revenue will come from ticket sales and a casino held during the gala.

Just over 220 tickets were sold at $100 each, Adrian said, and a tally is being done on casino earnings.
Adrian said the Saturday function is the centre’s most important fundraiser, since it only receives 11 per cent of its operating budget from the city.

“The money we raise from this is already factored in as part of our overall budget and isn’t a frill, Adrian said.

Lonnie Reed, who organized A Night on the French Riviera, said the evening, nine months in the planning, went “superbly well.”
