The Junior Band and Concert Choir from Widdifield Secondary School performed at MusicFest Canada (regional) this past month with the Senior Band rounding out the performances Wednesday.
In their infancy, as the program just got off the ground in the past few years, the bands were quite successful at the competition as all three ensembles received a Silver Plus rating. The Senior Band and the Concert Choir have now been invited to compete at the Nationals.
Music Director, Lynne Barons, says she is very proud of the talent and dedication of the individuals involved, and that the invitation to nationals was very unexpected.
The band will be featured in some upcoming events for the community:
The Junior Band will be playing with North Bay's 22 Wing Military Band at Widdifield S.S. on Ski Club Road April 17, 7pm with tickets available at door for $5/person, $10/family.
The three ensembles will also participate in the annual Kiwanis Music Festival Tuesday, May 22 at Widdifield S.S. at 7pm with the admission as a pay what you can event.
