Who Stole Samuel De Champlain?

Mattawa OPP is asking Mattawa area residents to assist in helping police with regards a theft that took place, last month, at the entrance to the Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park, Highway 17 Calvin Township.

Sometime between May 1st and May 20th, 2006, thieves made off with a seven foot (7’) tall Voyageur Silhouette. It is made of plastic and depicts a Voyageur. (please see the photo accompanying this release). This was one of two signs on site located on the east side of the entrance to the park. The value of the item is estimated at $3,500.00. Police are continuing their investigation and are seeking public assistance.
