West Nipissing man charged with attempted murder

During the week of February 21 to February 27, 2014 the West Nipissing Police Service logged 201 calls for service. 

Among those were 53 9-1-1 calls, 18 Police Assistance calls, 7 Alarms, 2 Drug Offences, 2 Frauds, 2 Harassment calls, 2 Thefts, 2 Frauds and 1 Mischief call.

On February 21, police conducted a traffic stop on Cache Bay Rd. 

While speaking with the driver, the officer became suspicious as the information provided was not making much sense. 

The driver and passenger were detained and a search of the vehicle was performed. 

The search resulted in approx. 20 grams marijuana being found in the rear seat area of the vehicle. 

The 23 year old driver took ownership of the drugs and was subsequently charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. 

He was later released on a Promise To Appear.

On February 22nd, a male attended the West Nipissing Police Service headquarters to report an incident that occurred earlier in the day. 

The complainant stated that while he was in his vehicle another male approached him while parked at a business located on Front St. 

An argument started between the two which lead to the accused spraying lighter fluid on the driver. 

This person then attempted to light the fluid with his lighter. 

The panicked driver quickly left the area before any harm was done. 

The investigating officer obtained a warrant to enter the suspect’s residence. 

Upon entering the accused apartment, the suspect was located and quickly arrested for Attempted Murder. 

A subsequent search of the residence resulted in numerous Methamphetamine pills being found. 

Further to the Attempted Murder charge, 38 year old James Finnigan was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Assault With a Weapon, Adult Intimidation, Uttering Threats, two counts of Fail To Comply With A Probation Order and one count of Adult Criminal Negligence. 

He was held for bail.

On February 26th, the West Nipissing Police Service obtained a Controlled Drug and Substance Warrant to enter and search a residence located on Main St in Sturgeon Falls.

Upon entering the apartment, officers had to use force to take down the first male who attempted to push the officers out. 

This person was quickly cuffed, secured and arrested. 

Another male was located inside the residence and was also arrested without incident. 

A search of the residence resulted in numerous types of drugs seized as well as Canadian Currency, a debt list and weight scales. 

All drugs seized have an approx. street value of $4500.00. 

39 year old Devon Beaucage and 41 year old Stuart Beaucage were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, 2 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Property Obtained By Crime Under $5000 with the first male getting an extra charge of Resisting Arrest. 

Both were kept in custody and brought to Bail court the next day.
