'We'll save you 10 cents a litre at the pump' says Fedeli

'Doing this means the average driver will save $222 each year'

Nipissing PC Candidate Vic Fedeli says his party will save motorists 10 cents a litre if elected June 7th, and he chose to fill up in Callander to press his point.

Fedeli has his campaign van filled with $102 worth of gas (just over 76 litres) and announced, "That would have been seven dollars and 60 cents back in my pocket," under the PC plan.

The average Canadian drives over 20,000 km a year, according to Fedeli so would save about $220 per year.

“The Ontario PCs are the only party that is committing to lowering the cost of gas for drivers," Fedeli told reporters. "In Nipissing, many of us get from point A to point B in the family car – it’s not a luxury as the NDP would have you believe, it’s a necessity."

To get the savings the PC's would scrap the cap-and-trade carbon tax, saving 4.3 cents and reduce the provincial fuel tax for gasoline by 5.7 cents a litre.

"We will also continue to share gas tax revenue with municipalities. They will not receive a corresponding decrease in their transfer payments as a result of this reduction."
