The Near North District School Board is pleased to announce that Chippewa teacher Mary Beth Hurley was recently presented with the OBEA (Ontario Business Educators Association) Award of Merit in recognition of her exceptional contribution to business education.

The award is presented annually to four Ontario business studies teachers who have promoted Business Education within the school, board, and community.  “We are delighted that Mary Beth has been recognized for her commitment to teaching and championing the values of business education in our schools” said Principal Tim Collins.
 
As well as proving herself as an innovative and inspiring classroom teacher:

- Mary Beth has 13 years teaching experience at Chippewa Intermediate Secondary School.

- Encouraged students to participate in provincial competitions including DECA (Developing Excellence Celebrating Achievement) an extra-curricular program that allows students to develop confidence and leadership in the community.

- Contributed to publishing a new international business text book

- Instructed at Nipissing University

- Initiated the High Skills Major Business Program at Chippewa

The Near North District School Board is appreciative of all such committed educators striving for Excellence in Education.
