The purpose of Wotten’s quest is to draw attention to the importance of Canada’s water resources.

Locally Wotten received support from Roy Summer who would like to see the La Vase Portages open to public travel. Summers says that because of the great work done since 1995 there are only a few problems left to be solved.
Summers says although there has been great strides to open the historical sites to paddlers, over the past 10 years there have been incidents where people have turned back, got lost and got hurt trying to get through the route.
