North Bay received the largest award granted in round one of the new Canada Ontario Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund (COMRIF).

Minister of State (Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario), Joe Comuzzi, and minister responsible for the COMRIF confirmed the federal investment to the project of $14,988,333 during the announcement at North Bay City Hall today.

Ontario Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, John Gerretsen, was also on hand to confirm his government’s investment of $14,988,333 with North Bay kicking in the rest of the projected $45 million dollars it will cost to construct the plant.

Not only is the announcement good news that will see the Water Filtration plant built, but the work involved has invented a new model that has all three levels of government working together in one common goal, ‘the betterment of rural Ontario’.
