Washes bring wishes

“It’s for the kids, that’s the main reason we do this, to fulfill the kids wishes. I love it because my heart goes out to these little ones, and I love seeing the results here.”

The weather co-operated beautifully on Saturday: the sun shone brightly as the temperature climbed even in the early hours of the day. Perfect weather for a car wash.

Manager Nina Zaychuck stood roadside with local families and beckoned cars to the "Wash for a Wish" car wash held in the parking lot of her Krown Body Maintenance shop on Gormanville Road.

The wash was held to raise money for the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada and 100 per cent of funds raised locally stays in the community to help families. The event is the biggest one put on by Krown and Zaychuck states she has seen the success of the event grow yearly since it’s inception in 2012, adding that the North Bay location was sitting sixth place among the Krown stores across Canada in a tally of funds raised.

“It’s for the kids, that’s the main reason we do this, to fulfill the kid's wishes. I love it because my heart goes out to these little ones, and I love seeing the results here.” Zaychuck states, adding her first-hand experience of supporting friends and family with children affected by cancer.

The event took place Saturday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. raising funds for medical care needed by local families.
