Mattawa's Voyageur Days are a family affair. At Explorer's Point the Bennett family, Mason, Lacey, Mom Cindy and Haley enjoy the country band Dry County. Photo by Jeff Turl.
Great weather and the announcement that Mt. Antoine would re-open this winter had everyone smiling during Mattawa's Voyageur Days Friday.
"It's a huge crowd here," said festival chairman Jacques Begin, "and the bands are putting on a phenomenal show."
The event is known for its musical acts, but the town is trying to expand the lure by having a lot of free attractions.
"People were saying 'where are the youth activities?', so we've planned stuff for them all weekend."
Thursday was kid's day and had "a great turnout", said Begin. "The island was packed."
