The Powassan Voodoos continue to bolster their lineup with the signing of 6'4" defenceman Ryan O'Dell.

The 200-pound right-hand shot blueliner was selected in the 10th round of the 2020 OHL Priority Selection by the Oshawa Generals.

O'Dell describes himself as a two-way defenceman who plays a 200-foot game.

"I chose Powassan because I have heard great things about the organization and their fan base," said the 2004 birth year defenceman.

"I also chose Powassan because of their amazing record in past years. I’m looking forward to getting up to Powassan and start skating with the team and get the season started. I can bring a physical presence to the team along with defensive skill and some offensive play.

"I am also a determined player who works hard in every aspect of the game. My goals for the season are to develop my game and to help the team win a championship this year," the Stouffville, Ontario product added.

O'Dell comes from the Richmond Hill Coyotes AAA hockey program where former Voodoos Eric Nagy and Ryan Bazzana came from.

Mike Mackley, Voodoos VP of Hockey Operations, says O'Dell is a big and rangy defender who utilized his length well.

"He skates well for a big body and has continually improved his game on the offensive side of the puck," noted the hard-working Voodoos recruiter.

"Ryan’s versatility will allow him to play in various situations with us this season."

O'Dell will have a chance to skate with his teammates later this month as the Voodoos host a summer prospects camp at Pete Palangio Arena in North Bay.
