The Powassan Voodoos stayed close to home signing local Battalion prospect Kaedyn Long, the Voodoos announced on Tuesday.

The speedy and skilled forward, who played with the U18 AAA Vaughan Kings last year, was a 2021 15th round selection of the North Bay Battalion.

Growing up in Astorville, the 2005 birth year forward says he looked up to Voodoos players including his former billet brother Daniel Walker, who played for both the Voodoos and the Battalion.

“I am incredibly honoured to be signing with the Powassan Voodoos,” said Long.

“Growing up in North Bay, the North Bay Battalion and the Powassan Voodoos are the teams that we look up to and dream to play for. That dream became a reality today. I am very excited to start the next chapter of my career with the Voodoos. I am looking forward to wearing the Voodoo jersey and being able to play for the hometown team.”

Chris Dawson, Voodoos GM, says he’s watched Long play since he was in Novice.

“Kaedyn has always been one of the top players for his age group in the city,” said Dawson.

“He impressed at our camp this weekend using his speed and tenacity. We know he is from a good family too, as you can never have enough character players on your team.”

Long will join the Voodoos in main training camp in late August.
