A new vendor’s market launches this weekend in downtown Sturgeon Falls, at 204 King St.
The site is already home to a famer’s market, which is open seven days a week until September. Adding additional vendors will help encourage more traffic to the downtown, explained Gayle Primeau, who is leading the initiative for a larger market.
“It will support local talent and businesses,” Primeau said, and “promote our downtown and give local businesses more exposure.”
The market will “create another event” on weekends and give people “some fun” while downtown.

Since it is a new venture, Primeau is still looking for vendors to take part. The cost to book a spot is $25, $5 of which goes to support the Sturgeon Falls Beautification Group.
Primeau is a founder of that group, and her plan is to save enough from the vendor’s fee to enable them to purchase large flowerpots for the downtown.

Vendors do not have to be agricultural in nature, Primeau emphasized. People are welcome to sign up to sell various products and services or use the opportunity to promote their business or event.
With enough support, Primeau hopes the vendors market will continue on weekends throughout the summer and become an annual feature of the community.
The inaugural vendors market opens rain or shine on Saturday, July 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Chris Osborne will provide entertainment.
