The Ontario Provincial Police confirmed Wednesday afternoon police found three bodies at the crash site near the mouth of the Pickerel River. Three bodies were located at the remote site in bush near Georgian Bay. Bodies had yet to be recovered.

The Ontario Provincial Police held a press conference at 2 p.m. today after confirming they have located the missing Piper aircraft.

Const. Miles Loach said the aircraft was located in a “very wooded area” that is only accessible by helicopter. There was no information available on the pilot or the two passengers.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has deployed a team to the site of the crash.

OPP say shortly before 4 p.m., officers were advised of an aircraft having engine problems 20 kilometers south of Sudbury and 18 kilometres west of Key River.

A Piper airplane with three occupants on board reportedly left Sudbury and had to make an emergency landing.

Radio contact was lost.

Joint Rescue Coordinator Centre (JRCC) sent an aircraft and helicopter from Trenton to locate and assist.

Officers from West Parry Sound OPP Detachment are currently attempting to locate the aircraft.

Transport Canada Safety Board has been notified and will be assisting in the investigation.
