Updated: Fatal accident closes Highway 64

Update: A pick-up truck traveling eastbound on Highway 64 collided with a westbound passenger vehicle near Gauthier Rd.

Update: A pick-up truck traveling eastbound on Highway 64 collided with a westbound passenger vehicle near Gauthier Rd.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 44 year old female, Tammy Dina Mitchell from French River was transported by air ambulance and later died of her injuries.

The driver of the pick-up truck, a 33 year old male, Roch Labelle also from French River was taken by ambulance to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Highway 64 is now open.

A two vehicle collision early this morning on Highway 64 near Alban killed one driver and sent another to hospital.

At about 6:10 a.m, the Noelville and Warren Detachments of the OPP responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 64 near Gauthier Rd, in the Municipality of French River. 

One of the drivers was flown to Hospital with life threatening injuries and has since died of their injuries. 

The second driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

There were no passengers involved in this collision.  Police say further information will be provided as it becomes available.

Investigation by the Noelville OPP Detachment is continuing with the assistance of OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigator. 

Highway 64 will be closed until further notice.
