UPDATE tragically,young boy drowned in Magnetawan River, body FOUND

Rescuers have found the body of a seven-year-old boy who fell into the Magnetawan River Sunday evening. Shortly before 7:30 p.m., members of the Almaguin Highlands OPP were called to the scene.

Rescuers have found the body of a seven-year-old boy who fell into the Magnetawan River Sunday evening.

Shortly before 7:30 p.m., members of the Almaguin Highlands OPP were called to the scene.

After an extensive search of the Magnetewan River, OPP officers with the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit recovered the child body this afternoon (Tuesday) at approximately 1 p.m. 

He was located in approximately 11 feet of water, 217 metres below the dam.

At the time of the incident, four foot, 50 pound Korbin South had been playing in the area with other children before falling into the river and being swept away by the current. 

The investigation is ongoing and police do not believe foul play was a factor.
