City police have suspended the search for a elderly woman described as "confused".

Police say at approximately 3 p.m. yesterday they received a report from a man walking in the area of Minto Road at McKay Avenue who interacted with an elderly woman, who was described as confused.

The woman told the man that she intended to walk through the woods in order to go to Frost Street and Mackenzie Street. Another witness saw her enter the trails at the dead end of Minto Street walking westbound.

She is described as Caucasian, 5’7”, thin build, wearing a winter coat with speckled pattern likely red in colour, a white wool toque and mittens, but the witness could not remember the colour.

North Bay Police immediately conducted an extensive search for her but were unable to locate her.

The woman’s identity and whereabouts remain unknown.

As police have not received an official complaint of a missing person, the search was discontinued.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police at 705-497-5555.
