Disturbing news from North Bay police this morning.

They are investigating two separate incidents regarding treats collected by trick-or-treaters on Halloween night.

At approximately 9 o'clock Wednesday evening a woman called police regarding a chocolate bar collected on Aberdeen Street by her two-year-old son at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Halloween night.

After opening the wrapper of a mini Mars bar, which appeared to be sealed, the complainant noticed that a razor blade was inside the bar.

Also, at approximately 7 o'clock Wednesday evening, a complainant contacted police regarding a chocolate bar collected by a child on Halloween night.

After opening it, in what appeared to be a properly sealed package, the child discovered that it had a slit on its side and it was covered in a white powder.

The parent reports that the child went trick-or-treating on Wickstead Avenue, Sylvan Crescent, Michener Drive, Glen Rouge Drive, Madelena Drive, Ferguson Street, Victoria Street, and Princess Street.

The news of the razor blade found on Aberdeen shocked a few residents of the street.

"The last time I remember hearing about razor blades in candy was back in the '80s or '90s," one resident of Aberdeen told BayToday.ca.

"I can't believe someone in our neighbourhood would do something like that.  We checked our kids' candy bags Thursday morning and didn't find anything but it is certainly an eye-opener."
