UPDATE: charges laid in four car accident on Main

That four-vehicle motor vehicle collision on Main Street we reported on Friday at approximately 11 a.m., appears to be the fault of an impaired driving.

The accident occured just south of the intersection of Main and Fisher on the 400 block of Main East.

Police say one of the drivers, a 51-year old North Bay man, fled the scene of the collision on foot.

Police located him at the corner of Main and Wyld Streets a few minutes later, and, following an investigation, arrested and charged him with:

  • one count of driving while ability impaired;
  • one count of refuse to provide sample; and
  • one count of fail to stop at the scene of accident, under the Criminal Code.

The accused was released from custody with a court date scheduled for Tuesday, March 17th.

There were no injuries. Three vehicles required tow trucks.
